Free Chattybots do not store transcripts

When students use free Chattybots on ESLvideo.com, we do not see or store transcripts. Speech is transcribed and sent to OpenAI to generate a response, then discarded unless transcript reporting is enabled by a teacher.

Student privacy comes first

Students can use Chattybots free or with a Class Code and Chattypass. No student email or personal account is required for teacher-managed access.

Student privacy and Chattybots

How student privacy is protected

Student privacy is a top priority. We design Chattybots so students can participate without creating personal accounts.

  • Students can use Chattybots free or with a Class Code and Chattypass. No email or personal account is required.
  • Students may use a first name or nickname.
  • Audio is processed in real time for transcription and is not stored.
  • By default, transcripts and scores are not saved.
  • When a teacher enables transcript reporting, transcripts may be stored securely and linked only to a name or nickname and a Class Code.
  • Stored transcripts are deleted after 365 days or when the Class Code is deleted.
AI and service providers

How speaking activities are processed

We use third-party services to process speech and generate responses. These services are used to run the activity, not to train AI models.

  • Deepgram processes speech-to-text and discards audio after processing.
  • OpenAI generates responses and may retain API data for up to 30 days.
  • AWS Polly generates voice output.
  • Chattybot conversations are not used to train AI models.
Automatic collection

Logs, cookies, and usage

We collect limited technical information to operate and improve the service.

  • Server logs may include IP address, browser type, and pages visited.
  • Cookies may be used to maintain sessions and improve functionality.
  • We do not use Google Ads or advertising profiling.
