Shakin' All Over

When you move in right up close to me
That's when I get the chills all over me
Quivers down my back bone
I got the shakes in my thigh bone
I got the shivers in my knee bone
Shakin' all over

Just the way you say "goodnight" to me
Brings the feeling out inside of me
Quivers down my back bone
I got the shakes in my thigh bone
I got the shivers in my knee bone
Shakin' all over

Quivers down my back bone
I got the shakes in my thigh bone
I got the shivers in my knee bone
Shakin' all over

Well you make me shake
And I like the way that you make me shake
And I like the way
Oh shake shake shake.....

songwriters: Johnny Kidd and the Pirates

performed by: Chad Allan and The Expression who later became The Guess Who

date released: 1960 by Johnny Kidd and the Pirates; re-released by The Guess Who in 1965

"Shakin' All Over" was a hit in the U.K. in 1960 and was not released in the North American market until The Guess Who recorded and released it in 1965.

When Johnny Kidd was asked the source of his shakin', he quipped:

"When I was going around with a bunch of lads, and we happeded to see a girl who was a real sizzler, we used to say that she gave us "guivers down the membranes." It was a standard saying with us referring to any attractive girl....I can
honestly sat that it was this more than anything that inspired me to write "Shakin' All Over."

In The Guess Who rendition, Canadians shivered down the back bones instead of down the membranes. Membranes? What?
