The Woodstock Music and Art Fair was held at Max Yasgur's 600-acre dairy farm near the town of Bethel, New York, from August 15-18th, 1969. Thirty-two musical acts performed for almost a half a million people in a festival regarded as one of greatest moments in music history.

Canada's Joni Mitchell wrote the song, "Woodstock" to commemorate the event and her friends, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young recorded the song and made it a smash hit.

Mitchell herself was unable to perform at Woodstock because of previous commitments. She wrote the song in a hotel room in New York watching the report of the Festival on tv. Her own rendition of the song came in 1970 for the album "Ladies of the Canyon."
