Elf Learning proudly presents Halloween.
This is a story about Amy and her favorite day, Halloween.
Amy loves Halloween. She loves dressing up, she loves trick or treating, and of course she loves candy. But she loves Halloween for another reason. October 31st is also Amy's birthday. Presents, cake, and candy on the same day. It's the best day of the year.
This year Amy and her three best friends will go trick-or-treating. They will all have different costumes. Mari will be smart, she will be a doctor. Marisa will be funny, she will be a hamburger. Selena will be cute, she will be a minion. And Amy, Amy will be scary, she will be a wicked witch.
The girls meet at Amy's house at six o'clock.
Amy looks at Mari. "You look so smart," she says.
Mari points to her head and smiles. "I know, right?"
Next Mari looks at Risa. "Oh my goodness, a hamburger, that's so funny."
"No, I'm not a hamburger, I'm a double cheeseburger."
Risa looks at Selena. "I love minions."
Selena laughs and says, "Then everyone looks at Amy."
Amy is not smart or funny or cute. She's scary, very scary. She has a long ugly nose, dark eyes, long black hair, and a sharp hat bent at the top.
"You're so scary," says Selena.
Amy lets out an evil laugh. They all laugh.
"Who's ready to go trick-or-treating?" says Amy.
Everyone shouts, "Me!"
And the doctor, the double cheeseburger, the minion, and the wicked witch run down the street.
Suddenly they hear a loud crack of thunder off in the distance. "Oh no, rain," they all thought.
"Hurry up," shouts Selena. "Let's go to this house first."
They run up to the door, ring the doorbell, and yell, "Trick or treat!"
There's another loud crack, then the lights go out. No lights in the house, no lights on the street. It's a blackout.
"What do we do? What happened? I can't see."
And then, bling, the lights turn on. But something's wrong.
"Wait," says Risa, "where's Selena?"
The girls look around, but Selena is gone.
"Maybe she ran home because she was scared," says Amy. "It's okay, she'll come back. Let's go to the next house," says Mari.
The three girls run down the street to the next house. This house has a big door with a giant spider on it. They press the doorbell and yell, "Trick or treat!"
Again there's another loud crack. Again the lights go out.
"Not again, can you see?"
And then the lights turn on, but again something's wrong.
"Where's Mari?"
"Uh, she probably had to use the bathroom. Let's go to the next house."
The two girls run to the next house. They run up to the door, press the doorbell, and yell, "Trick or treat!" And again there's a huge crack of thunder, and there's another blackout.
"Risa, can you see?"
But there's no answer. Just then the lights come back on. Amy looks around, but no one is there. She is alone.
Amy runs home as fast as she can. "Where is everyone? What happened to them?"
Amy gets to her house. All the lights are off. She slowly walks up to the house and opens the door. It's dark, it's very dark, she can't see anything.
She walks in. One step, two steps, three steps. "Mom? Dad?" Four steps, five steps, six steps. "Grandma? Grandpa?"
And then suddenly the lights come on. "Surprise!"
Mari is there, Risa is there, Selena is there, her mom and dad and Grandma and Grandpa are there. "Happy birthday, Amy, and happy Halloween!"
